Happy Anniversary, Book Again!

Twenty five years ago, with considerable help from family and friends, I first opened the doors to Book Again, hoping that others would share my yearning for a bookshop that was bright and friendly -- a real alternative to the ones I visited in my past which were often dark, dusty and unorganized. Well, you sure came in, and you seemed to enjoy it because you told your friends. Word soon spread, and now here we all are, 25 years later celebrating our time together.

With your continued support, Book Again will remain as your local go-to spot to share your reading experiences with one another and to buy and trade books of all sorts. Over the years, all of us at Book Again have really enjoyed getting to know each and every one of you -- sharing so many "Book Again moments" -- and we look forward to the excitement of our next 25 years, complete with new generations of book lovers!

As I pondered, weak and worsery
Over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore
Wondering how I'd price and stack them
On the shelves 'fore Mom got back and
Why I'd volunteered to help her
Help her with her used bookstore
Rest the weary Nevermore...

(or, to put it another way)

Used books, or not used books -- that is the question;
Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The Slings and Arrows of outrageous siblings;
Or to take arms against a sea of bargain books,
And by some miracle, sell them:
To work
To sleep no more...

Call me Ishmael (or Joe). Some years ago -- never mind how long precisely (although it was twenty five years ago precisely) -- having little or no money in my purse, and at a loss to explain precisely what I was doing with a purse, I thought I would help Mom (Sheryl) and my brothers, and Mary Nagle, and so many others open up a used bookstore, and see the literary part of the world...

It was the best of times,
It was the worst of times,
It was the age of Reagan,
It was the age of Big Hair,
It was the season of Youth,
It was the year I entered Middle Age,
It was the spring of Hope,
And as we are still here 25 years later, it was clearly not the "Winter of Despair"!

(I knew something had happened 25 years ago... heh heh heh)

Anyway, Congratulations to my Mom who has survived pretty much everything, and please stop by to join us as we prepare to enter the Next 25 Years, and I hope you enjoyed my little literary jest...
